Start a crypto transfer at the receiving end. Obtain the exact asset, supported network, deposit address and any memo or destination tag. The sender must match those details before approving the payment. An address that looks valid is not proof that the recipient supports your selected route.

A withdrawal from an exchange also depends on that service's processing rules. A balance on its website is not the same as funds already broadcast to a blockchain.

Collect fresh receiving instructions

Open the receiving wallet or platform yourself. Select the asset and network, then copy the address and any required tag. Check deposit minimums and whether deposits are currently available.

A tag or memo can identify your account when a platform shares an address between customers. Follow the recipient's instructions exactly. Never invent a tag or assume a field is optional because another wallet did not require it.

Check the token contract where relevant. Two tokens can display the same symbol without representing the same asset.

Review the sending screen

Compare the full destination address with the trusted source after pasting. Do not copy it from transaction history or compare only its opening and closing characters. Check a hardware device's display when available.

Confirm the net amount after withdrawal charges exceeds the receiving minimum. A self-custody transaction may require the network's native asset for fees, even when you are sending a different token.

On Ethereum, gas pays for executed computation; a reverted transaction can still consume gas, as the network's fee documentation explains. This does not mean every rejected wallet action incurs an on-chain fee.

Use a test where it helps

For a new wallet-to-wallet route, send a small amount above relevant minimums. Wait until the recipient confirms usable credit, then recheck every field before sending the rest.

Do not split a fixed-amount swap order into a test and a remainder unless the service explicitly supports partial deposits. Instead, a separate small order can test that service. A successful small transfer checks routing; it does not prove a platform is trustworthy or guarantee the next transaction.

Follow the transaction's actual status

Save the transaction ID and open it in an explorer for the correct network. Pending means the transfer has not yet reached the relevant inclusion or completion stage. Confirmed on-chain and credited by a platform are separate milestones.

If no transaction ID exists, check whether the sending service has broadcast the withdrawal. If the transaction is pending, consult the wallet's official replacement or cancellation procedure where supported. Such options are not universal.

If it is confirmed but absent from the account, compare the destination, contract, network, memo, minimum and receiving confirmation requirement. Contact the recipient's official support with the transaction ID and order details.

If something is wrong

Stop sending more money. Preserve receipts and contact the relevant service or known recipient. Recovery of unsupported deposits depends on technical control and provider policy; it is never assured.

Never give support your recovery phrase or private key. In a self-custody wallet, a legitimate token may simply be hidden from the display. Verify its contract and network independently before adding it. Receiving an unsolicited token is not a reason to visit its advertised website.
